CARD Student Poster Winners – October 2023

We are pleased to announce the following winners of CARD’s October 2023 poster competition that was held at CARD’s industry advisory board meeting, October 11 – 13, 2023.

• 1st Place: Itamar Harris, WPI – “Enhancement of Drying of Moist Porous Media with Phase Change Material”
• 2nd Place: Mucheng Li, WPI – “Optical Fiber Noses for Real-time, In-line Gas and Aroma Sensing in Drying”
• 3rd Place: Mehrnoush Famil Dardashti, WPI – “Dehydration of Slurry Fluids Using Contact and Non-Contact Ultrasonic Wave Technology”
• 3rd Place: Ramin Nemati, UIUC – “Microstructural Mechanical Texture Evaluation of a Food Material as a Function of Drying Conditions”
• Honorable Mention: Jacob Bouchard & Jacen Urbaniak, WPI – “Non-contact THz Moisture Sensor”.

Itamar Harris (center) earned 1st place for her poster “Enhancement of Drying of Moist Porous Media with Phase Change Material”.

Mucheng Li earned 2nd place for his poster “Optical Fiber Noses for Real-time, In-line Gas and Aroma Sensing in Drying”.

Ramin Nemati (right) tied for 3rd place with Mehrnoush Famil Dardashti. His poster title is “Microstructural Mechanical Texture Evaluation of a Food Material as a Function of Drying Conditions”. Mehrnoush’s (featured left of Ramin) poster title is “Dehydration of Slurry Fluids Using Contact and Non-Contact Ultrasonic Wave Technology”.

Jacen Urbaniak (left) and Jacob Bouchard (right) both received an honorable mention for their work on “Non-contact THz Moisture Sensor”.
